Tournament Info

Dear Friends,

I am pleased to invite you to the 12th Annual Augie Muñoz Memorial Golf Tournament. Our event will be held again at California Country Club in Whittier on Friday, July 9, 2010.

Proceeds from our event each year are given in my father's name to USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center for research in Pancreatic Cancer. Although it's one of the deadliest forms of cancer, there currently are no early markers for it. Over the past 10 years, your donations have allowed us to contribute over $235,000, specifically toward research in the early detection of Pancreatic Cancer. These funds have enabled Dr. Peter W. Laird, Ph.D., to conduct breakthrough research in DNA markers for Pancreatic Cancer. Dr. Laird's research continues and progress is being made as a result of your contributions. Dr. Laird is leading pioneering research in the identification of DNA markers that indicate a genetic proclivity towards Pancreatic Cancer. As we enter our next decade of fundraising we can see that our dream of a genetic marker for this deadly disease may one day become a reality.

So I hope you will join us for a fun day of golf as we enjoy our 12th Annual Fundraiser. Please see the attached Tournament Sponsor and Entry Form for information on entry fees and Sponsorship Opportunities. We realize that these are difficult economic times, so we would appreciate any donations for our auction, raffle and/or tee bag prizes. Entry fees, sponsorships, and donations are tax deductible per IRS rules (Tax ID #95-4734309). This tournament sells out quickly each year so please get your registration in ASAP. We'd like to have you all join us but unfortunately we need to operate on a first come, first serve basis.

This year in an effort to “Go Green”, many of you are receiving this by email. Doing this will save us a substantial amount in printing and postage expense.  So I’d ask that you please forward this email to any of your friends or family.  Visit our website at www.augiemunoz.org for more information, photos of Augie and of previous tournaments. For more information, please contact me at (626) 292-2276. Thank you for your anticipated support.

Sincerely,

David Muñoz

"Augie"

It’s time again for our Annual Augie Muñoz Memorial. This is our 11th Tournament and we are back again at California Country Club in Whittier. Thank you to the golfers, sponsors and volunteers who are the reason for our success each year.

As in the past our format is a four-man scramble. Check in begins at 11:00 am. Once you check in, pick up your tee prizes and join us for our traditional barbecue lunch served by Dolores Canning Co. The driving range and putting green will be open for warm-up and the putting contest.

Our Shotgun start is at 1:00 pm. In addition to the on-course games and skills contests, we will feature a New Car for the first Hole-in-One. As always, our on-course volunteers will keep you filled with plenty of food and drinks. When you’re ready for a snack Los Cinco Puntos will once again serve delicious Carnitas Tacos at the Cross-Road by the lake (Hole #5).

Immediately following golf, mariachis will play for your entertainment as you enjoy cocktails on the patio. Dinner and the awards presentation begins at 7:00 pm. Following dinner we’ll call out winners for our great selection of raffle prizes.

This year, in light of our economic times, we are REDUCING the cost of a golf foursome to $800! All golf entry fees include the Contest Package. This package includes entry into all skills contests, Hole-in-One opportunities and two mulligans.

So come join us for our 11th Annual Augie Muñoz Memorial. We hope that
you will come to catch up with some old friends as well as make some
new ones. Thanks for your support!
